The operations of Clive Hoffman Associates are managed by President Clive Hoffman and Vice President Jill Hoffman.
Clive Hoffman
Clive Hoffman is president of the firm which he founded in 1966.
In his professional capacity, he has served as program and media consultant to the Richard S. Ziman Center for Real Estate at UCLA and as chair of its highly successful Residential Housing Conference. Clive previously served for ten years as a charter advisor to the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate. He was also a member of the Real Estate Finance Advisory Committee to the California Real Estate Commissioner and of the Department’s Task Force on Inner City Lending. He has served on the board of CORENET and is a member of the program committee of the Los Angeles District Council of the Urban Land Institute. Clive was the first Los Angeles public relations professional to be inducted into Lambda Alpha, the international land economics society.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Clive holds a B.A. degree in theater arts from UCLA. He has taught real estate marketing and public relations in the USC School of Public Policy, Planning and Development, as well as at UCLA, where he also created and presented a comprehensive series of seminars on Initial Public Offerings (IPOs).
Among his many civic and community endeavors, Clive served as secretary of the Board of Trustees of the California State Summer School for the Arts, a position to which he was appointed by former California Governor Gray Davis. He also served two terms as chair of the board of directors of the Southern California Leadership Network and currently is chairman of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust.
Clive’s additional civic involvement includes his term as chair of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Community Affairs Advisory Committee and being founding president of the Community Magnet School, recognized as one of the nation’s leading elementary schools.
Clive has written extensively on educational, real estate and public affairs issues for the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Business Journal, Urban Land Magazine and California Real Estate Journal, among other prestigious publications.
Jill Hoffman
Jill Hoffman is vice president of the agency that bears her father’s name. Her superior public relations and integrated marketing skills are the result of a 15-year career that spans a range of practices, including real estate, automotive, consumer and high-technology, lifestyle brands and healthcare. Jill draws on this diverse experience to deliver strategic, comprehensive programming to clients.
Jill’s day-to-day activities include working with the media and other important influencers, providing counsel to clients, writing and disseminating press materials, including op-eds and bylined articles, development of collateral materials, creating ads and direct mail pieces (newsletters, postcards),
identifying
opportunities for recognition (e.g., industry awards) and securing speaking engagements, among other responsibilities.
Jill is also experienced in issues management, brand positioning/repositioning, Web site development, social influence marketing, special events creation and management, trade show support, investor relations and community relations.
Brands that have benefited from Jill’s expertise include General Motors, Nike, Namco Hometek (developer of Pac-Man videogames), GameWorks (joint venture between Sega, Universal Studios and DreamWorks SKG), Mattel, Disney Online, Allergan, Advanced Medical Optics (AMO), MiniMed (Medtronic Diabetes), Blue Shield of California, DePuy Orthpaedics (a Johnson & Johnson Company), Boston Scientific, IHOP and JDate.com, among many others.
Over the years, Jill’s accomplishments have been recognized with several industry honors, including national and local SABRE (Superior Achievement in Branding and Reputation) and PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) awards, including “Best in Show” in 1999 from PRSA Los Angeles for Pac-Man World: 20th Anniversary, Namco Hometek’s twentieth anniversary Pac-Man game for Sony PlayStation, and again in 2006 for IHOP’s National Pancake Day celebration, which received major media coverage in most of the top 25 U.S. markets. She also received an award in 2004 from PRSA Los Angeles for best direct mail campaign for a postcard series developed for biotherapeutics company ZLB Bioplasma.
After working at several international and national firms, Jill joined Clive Hoffman Associates, where she could dedicate herself more completely to her clients. Jill graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a minor emphasis in Italian.
Jill’s hobbies include creative writing, yoga, hiking, photography, SCUBA diving, traveling and enjoying family, friends and her dogs.
